About Dubai

Dubai , one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates . On the British withdrawal in 1971, Dubai came together with Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and (in 1972) Ras Al Khaimah to create the federation of the United Arab Emirates.

       
   
   

Now Dubai truly is a fantastic touring destination. Where else can you spend a vacation that combines sand dunes and Middle East culture with high rise hotels overlooking pristine beaches and the warm turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf . If that's not enough, Dubai is fast emerging as one of the best shopping destinations in the world. The shopping malls are conveniently located throughout the city. Dubai is also a shopper's paradise as it is a duty-free zone. With a large number of sports clubs desperate to play touring sides, Dubai is an ultramodern city. In appearance it is clean, safe, and ultimately dynamic.

 
   

It is the sporting capital of the Gulf and the calendar of events attracts top personalities from all over the world. visitors enjoy the relaxed and luxurious lifestyle. This is a nation, which is serious about its sport. It has the enthusiasm, the climate and the facilities to participate and host a number of important international events. In addition to world-class facilities that are the envy of many international sportsmen and women, a number of UAE sportsmen have gained world-class recognition for their own achievements including, among others, world champions in bowling and powerboat racing together with several international chess masters. The Emirates are justifiably famous for their contribution to international horse racing. Traditionally Camel Racing is the national sport of the United Arab Emirates . Camel racing tracks have been built throughout the country and races are held annually. Football remains the most popular spectator sport in the UAE. Promotion of the sport through football clubs at schools and colleges, as well as at local, regional and national levels has paid dividends in terms of raising the standard of the game in the UAE.
 
         
     
     
 

There are a number of games other than the sports discussed above which is popular in Dubai like adventure and minority sports with strong followings in the UAE. These include rugby, hockey, dirt biking, dune buggy riding, go-karting, hang gliding, dune surfing, caving, marksmanship, parachuting, cycling, and darts.
